I think there some fairly compelling stats relevant to this issue, from the UK's Office of National Statistics (supplied by the Crime Survey of England & Wales).

99% of sex offenders are male

Male pattern sex offending does not change with transition

Trans-identified males are five times more likely to be convicted of sex offending, than males generally

88% of victims are female

And it's known by criminologists that sex offenders will do almost anything -- including cross dressing -- to gain access to victims.

So making formerly female-only spaces into mixed spaces, for trans-identified males, is an absolute gift to male sexual predators: whether trans-identified or not.

Most 'transwomen' are heterosexual, with some homosexual. Something has gone wrong with their sex responses, as happens in men who commit rape, paedophilia, etc. The simple solution is for all men to be banned from female spaces, etc. - i.e. go back to basics. If anything, I find 'transwomen' even more scary as they are playing a part and every instinct screams, beware the wolf in sheep's clothing! It is Mother Nature's alarm bell.

For women the analogy could be putting their hand in the cookie jar and coming up with a razor blade. She is not allowed to look in the cookie jar, but if her hand gets sliced up, it's HER fault for trusting the wrong 'cookie'. For women, it's crazy-making. It's even more crazy-making that WOMEN defend this. Our compassion has been weaponized against us by male-centred culture which demands women silence their legitimate concern and self-defences to protect men's feelings.

Like Arty suggested in the article women defending it might be stuck in the past. Their “academic” view does not accord with what is happening now. Plus believe at a very subtle level that men are the default human to be deferred to - like lots of male politicians believe. Bring on the Party for Women

On the one hand, I completely agree with you. “Trans” is unmeasurable nonsense, basically a religious belief. Men, regardless of how they identify, are still men and need to stay out of women’s spaces.

But the practicalities bother me. You’re right that most of the time, I can probably tell whether a person is physically male or female. But not all the time. Certainly there are trans people, both males and females, who pass, and there are definitely some people where it’s just hard to tell, both men with small builds and women who are kind of butch. And we won’t even mention detransitioners who could be falsely accused of being the opposite sex. It seems like any attempt to enforce this will be based on guesses that are difficult to verify, as it’s not practical to do either a birth certificate or genital check before letting people into the ladies room.

The other point is that if you’re using a ladies room in its intended fashion, which is going into a stall, doing your business, then washing your hands and leaving, without any peering through cracks in doors or underneath stalls or using your camera, no one will know what’s in your pants, or your chromosomes.

So I’m kind of willing to concede that if you look and act at least conceivably like a woman, it’s not practical to try to police bathroom usage in public places where you don’t know people.

On the other hand, locker rooms, spas, or anywhere genitals are exposed - no way! If you’re walking around with your dick out, you’re definitely a man and can’t be in women’s spaces. And schools and workplaces where you know the person’s sex - there people can be required to use the appropriate restroom for their sex.

You're pushing the topic into reasonable questions of nuance, asking fair questions about the boundaries of the gray areas. I think that's commendable and refreshing. But it's certainly challenging, too. The world needs more of it, even though virtually everyone on all sides wants desperately for there to be less of it. Cheers, and thanks for commenting.

Yes there would be policing problems for a reversion to female single sex spaces: and apparently butch-looking women already have problems accessing some of them.

But formerly female toilets in eg schools are being colonised by boys with cameras kicking cubicle doors open to photograph girls inside. And formerly female public toilets are infested by males with cameras taking videos under and over cubicle doors and partitions.

"Keep off the grass" signs will never deter everyone, but most people are sufficiently responsive that grass (for whatever reason) doesn't get trampled.

Re-establishing clear boundaries for single sex spaces -- with THIRD SPACES also available -- should cut out a lot of the nonsense simply because it's so difficult for most trans-identified males to "pass" as women. And they'd no longer have any excuse for not using a third space. And women would feel entitled to protest, instead of being forced to accept mixed spaces.

Expand full comment

The problem is that most of the males absolutely do not want to use third spaces. The females, most of them, will not risk entering male spaces because they know they are vulnerable as the female sex. Ironic. We use sex discrimination every day with 'transmen' by not placing them in male prisons, for example. When it comes right down to it, we are talking not of both sexes, but just the one - the male sex. I doubt that these entitled, paraphilic/fetishistic men would go the length of themselves to offer any succour to 'transmen'. It is all about them. Always.

I recently went to a conference where I walked into the women’s restroom and saw a person who was obviously a trans identifying male standing in front of the mirror putting on makeup. Not 50 feet away was an “all genders” restroom. But no, he had to use the ladies room. And can you imagine a biological woman at a technical conference putting on a full face of makeup in the restroom at the conference? I wear a bit of makeup in a professional setting but like every other woman, I put it on in my hotel room before going to the conference. It was so clearly performative. I just ignored him, went into the stall, and was thankful that public restroom stalls are in Europe are more sturdily constructed than the gap-ridden ones we have in the US.

It may be hard to police but at least it keeps the majority of men out so it's still worth banning men from women's toilets. It's also hard to police underage people going into pubs but it's still worth asking for id. So the signs say don't be offended if you're asked for id if you look under 25. Maybe we can have a sex ID card. 😂

Expand full comment

What a great idea! We could throw a sop to the TRAs by having a card that stated sex and gender ID, but single sex spaces could be segregated. I'd like the law to say they must be rather than could be, in areas where people are showering, sleeping, changing, using the toilet or otherwise vulnernable. A third space for those who need it (detrans, trans or transmaiden supporters could use that) would be the answer. Of course it wouldn't be acceptable as Robin Moira White made clear recently when asked why he didn't use the gender neutral toilets, but it would mean women would be able to call out transgressors (see what I did there)

Ha ha. I see it!

True--but making toilets single-space, as they used to be 5 years ago, is a first and necessary step.

Sadly, most trans activists won't be able to follow the logic of your argument. The thick idiot who responded to Jk's tweet sums it up when he implies that JK thinks Trans people universally pose a threat". Totally missed the point. Again. The. Again Davina said a podcast was balanced and was accused of wanting to destroy trans people. These people have no logic. So argument is just lost on them.

The word 'identify' is a verb. When someone claims to identify as a leftist or a conservative or whatever, that person is implying that they have made a choice. A man 'identifying' as a woman has made a choice. Why then, has this category of choice come to mean that men making this claim have actually recognised some innate sexed essence, that can only be recognised by introspection, and never be contradicted by society? Apparently 'trans women' are woke to their true selves. Yet what scientific field discovered this innate sexed essence, or are we just dealing with mysticism?

Whatever the law is, they won't like it. Much of the point of it is to make females uncomfortable. They often tend to lack sensitivity and compassion and try to eschew third spaces. Then we have the truly sexual elements: the paraphilias and fetishes. The question must be: however they appear, whatever they have done to look like the opposite sex, should females be asked to tolerate these men? Unless you are a sadist or a masochist, the answer must be, NO. This is the crux of the issue.

They, the Butlerians , are against boundaries of any kind, including law. So it's not even in their language set. They will never embrace a boundary no matter how reasonable. They will never hear the word, No --- and accept that it applies to them. They--- are exceptions, above any rules of fairness and empathy.

Trans widows like me know that married men who ideate a female persona often also ideate that we, the smaller, female-bodied wife assaulted them. I was officially accused of assaulted my husband in sworn affidavits during our custody fight. I was able to prove that he lied, as in the first accusation, I and the children were not even in the same state as him. I'd taken my children on vacation so his move out would be quiet. He claimed I physically attacked him, "forcefully ejecting me from our home." He was in NYC, I was in Wisconsin. Their claims of constant threats and violence are fabricated. Also, they are known for inebriated fisticuffs with another crossdresser, which corrupt even the official data documented in police reports. For more on their "foibles" take a look at the 20 questions to ask a trans widow survey at Trans Widow Ute Heggen on YT.

If it weren’t for those pesky ‘male impersonators’ ruining it for ‘real’ ‘transwomen’ — the theft of women’s spaces would be totally fine. Yes, they’re actually, without any notion of the zenith of hypocrisy they’ve achieved — they’re actually using this argument. Some troublesome males are impersonating those who are busy impersonating women. Holy Meta.

i hate it when they say.. rapists will rape anyway…..

what so we just don’t try to protect women and girls,

But also why should a female have to explain why she doesn’t want to share certain spaces with men?

Fuck off, its not her job to explain it,

If anything it should be the job of the man to convince her to accept him in her space.

But sadly for team nobhead, their arguments aren’t working so team nobhead is turning to that most easily grabable male tools- well not that one although there is a lot of that, but i mean agression and hate.

“The supposed distinction between “cis men” and “trans women” (or lack thereof) comes into sharp focus at the exact moment right before a visibly male person steps into a women's changing room or bathroom...”

This is so patently obvious that even having to point it out makes you sound moronic. And it’s an indication of how corrupted our discourse and indeed our language itself has become.

I've seen an encouraging evolution in Mr. Morty's writing, reflecting the distancing of the LGB from the TQ+++ as the narcissism and overwhelming demands of trans ideologues engulf same sex attracted individuals in the same accusations we trans widows have experienced. Even the official police reports of assaults are sometimes disingenuous, as crossdressing men get in drunken fights with each other after last call, outside of some bar. We ex-wives know all the dirty laundry, and I'm collecting data in a survey of 20 questions to ask trans widows at my YT channel. I wonder if therapists also get involved in preaching to gay men that they must "try out" sexual activity with a woman who ideates a gay male identity? The survey:

Excellent piece, Arty.

Amazing how, in the face of all the evidence, the trans rights brigade still insist that all 'transwomen' are safe!? As you say, how do you spot which ones are safe and why should women have to give up their rights because of male on male violence! Will cross post later

Men Without Boundaries

The Safety Dance

We can dance if we want to

We can leave your friends behind

'Cause your friends don't dance

And if they don't dance

Well, they’re no friends of mine

Say, we can go where we want to

A place where people are kind

And we can act like we come

From a sexless world

Leave the real one far behind

And we can dance

And pee

We can go where we want to

Night is young and so are we

And we can dress with feels

From our wigs to our heels

And surprise 'em when we stand for a pee

Say, we can do what we want to

All of the time and so we will

And we can act real rude and totally removed

And we can act like an imbecile

And say, we can dance, we can dance

The bathroom's in our control

We can dance, we can dance

We're doing it from gaol to gaol

We can dance, we can dance

Everyone don’t look at our hands

We can dance, we can dance

The GC’s are taking a stance

Safety dance

They want a safety dance

Oh no, a safety dance

We can dance in the refuge

We've left our old life behind

As long as we abuse it, never gonna lose it

Everything'll work out right

We say, we can dance in your spaces

We can leave your friends behind

Because your friends don't dance

And if they don't dance

Well, they’re no friends of mine

We say, we can dance, we can dance

Women's sports are in our control

We can dance, we can dance

We're doing it from gaol to gaol

We can dance, we can dance

Everyone don’t look at our hands

We can dance, we can dance

The GC’s are taking a stance

They want a safety dance

Oh no, a safety dance

They want a safety dance

Oh no, a safety dance

They want a safety dance

Oh, the safety dance, nooooo!

The argument that transwomen belong in women's spaces (with exceptions below) is silly because of the complete lack of logic. If men (as a generality, with most men being perfectly safe) are a threat to women and to [some, to be designated below] transwomen - and I think most of us will agree with this as true - then how do we protect women and transwomen (aka men who consider themselves women)? First, I would clarify and say that transwomen who look just like other men (not attempting to "pass" as women) are not in any particular danger in men's spaces. Thus, any so-called transwoman who is not actively attempting to pass as a woman should definitely use the men's bathrooms, locker rooms, etc. I can think of no argument for letting such "transwomen" (those who appear as men) into women's spaces at all. They are in no danger in men's spaces and, as men, are a danger to women, just as any other man would be. If the argument regarding these men is that they cannot be a danger to women simply because they "identify" as women, that's absurd and beyond credulity. Second, as to transwomen who appear to be trying to pass, but who woefully fail, they may be in greater danger than other men in men's bathrooms or other spaces due to prejudices surrounding men who "dress up as women." This second group of transwomen pose a problem because we want to protect them from bad men, but we still want women to feel safe in women's spaces. I would argue that, as between the danger for a non-passing, but attempting to pass transwoman in being in men's spaces and the danger for women from such non-passing, but attempting to pass transwomen in women's spaces (which, to be clear, is the same as, and not more or less than the danger a woman would face from any other man in a woman's space), we cannot simply sacrifice women. Instead, we should try to: (1) have a third neutral space whenever possible; and (2) move as a society in a direction where such discrimination against men who don't fit the norm and defy gender stereotypes dissipates through acceptance of such gender non-conformity. Otherwise, I cannot see why women should pay the price for men who embark on an attempt to feel at home in their bodies by attempting to (but failing at) pass as women. As to the third category of transwomen, those who pass, we will never be able to police their admittance into women's spaces, except, as other commenters noted, in spaces where they get naked and show their parts - and if they have removed their male genitalia may actually pose at least less of a threat than other men in women's spaces. In those spaces, I would suggest that men who have not removed their male genitalia use the men's, or, when available, neutral spaces, and we again need to strengthen acceptance of non-conformity. As to passing transwomen in bathrooms (or other spaces where their maleness is not revealed), they will enter these spaces anyway. We just have to hope for the best in those situations. It's really that "simple" - okay, maybe not simple, but logical if we just break it down!
